The Valencia Guide

Our Wine and Bev Recommendations

  • Lambrusqueria (Centre) - A lovely and delicious Italian restaurant. Highly recommend trying the chef’s recommended set menu at dinner for great variety. Great Italian and Spanish wine list.

  • Apotheke (Centre) - A cocktail experience not to be missed, speakeasy in the city centre with DJs/playlists that set the perfect mood. Go here to explore a range of unique cocktails that artfully match taste with unique presentation.

Neighbourhoods

  • Russafa - Low key, great cafes, great for aperitivo. I recommend staying in an apartment in this area to enjoy the true soul of the city.

  • Ciutat Vella (Old Town) - Essentially the ‘downtown’. The squares generally house the tourist attractions, but

  • Beachfront - The beach is Valencia is beautiful and clean. Ride a back, walk with a gelato, or enjoy the beachside cafes.

Activities

  • Vintage Shopping (Russafa) - The vintage shops in Valencia are full of high quality goods. Russafa has a street market on Mondays that is worth a stop.

  • Picnic (Centre) - Grab fruits, vegetables, charcuterie, cheese, bread, and wine at Mercat de Russafa before heading to Parc Gulliver for a picnic.

  • Aperitivo (Russafa) - This might be an Italian term, but post-siesta in Spain is a vibe. Find any vibrant bar along the streets from 7-8p to enjoy drinks with some bread, olives, & cheese. Be aware that due to siesta, many stores and shops will be closed in the afternoon, so look to start eating and shopping after 7.

Cafés

  • Café de Las Horas (Ciutat Vella) - Lovely cafe tucked into the streets. The menu transitions from breakfast to tea and then to tapas, so stop by at any time of day.

  • Dulce de Leche (Russafa) - This café will attract you with its brilliant selection of pastries and cakes, but stay for the savouries as well.

  • La Más Bonita (Beachfront) - This cafe sits in the northern section of the beach, with seating both on the beach or tucked further away. Portions are massive!

Restaurants

  • San Tommaso (Ciutat Vella) - Best Italian restaurant in Valencia. You must make a reservation at least a week in advance. Outdoor seating is a big vibe.

  • Café Infanta (Ciutat Vella) - Most charming tapas bar in Valencia. Open late, so stop in for a late dinner and drinks.

Bars

  • Sant Jaume (Ciutat Vella) - Casual bar open late every day of the week; good for the classic late night outdoor sit and chat. If you want good Aqua de Valencia, go here.

  • Umbracle (Centre) - One-of-a-kind outdoor club. Go late, around 1-2am.
